This condition usually presents as tingling or numbness in the little and ring fingers. It may however also be associated with pain on the inside of the elbow.

It occurs as a result of pressure on the ulna nerve as it passed through a tight tunnel (cubital tunnel) at the elbow.

Diagnosis may require nerve conduction studies.

The treatment may be conservative, but if symptoms persists surgery to release the tunnel is possible. Rarely, the ulna nerve may need to be moved to the front of the elbow (anterior transposition). After surgery, the patient will have a wound on the inside of the elbow. This will take approximately 10 days to heal. Patients will be allowed to mobilise the elbow as comfort allows.
